Amazon Truck Fuel Leak Triggers Extended I-4 Shutdown Following Four-Vehicle Crash

PLANT CITY, Fla. – A major traffic disruption ground eastbound Interstate 4 to a halt Wednesday evening following a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles, including an Amazon semi-truck. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:00 PM just west of Mile Marker 21, near the Alexander Street exit.

The collision sequence began when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the outside lane attempted to change lanes. During the maneuver, the truck struck a Jeep Wrangler that was traveling in the adjacent exit-only lane for Alexander Street.

The force of the initial impact sent both vehicles spinning into further trouble. The Silverado was redirected back into its original lane, where it collided with a Dodge Charger. Simultaneously, the Jeep was propelled into the path of an Amazon tractor-trailer.
