Tampa Bay Freeze: 20-Degree Wind Chills Precede A Major Weekend Warm-Up

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay region is currently gripped by a cold snap that has sent temperatures plummeting, with wind chill values dropping as low as 34 degrees this morning. While the sun is out, a stiff northwest breeze with gusts reaching 24 mph is keeping the daytime high capped at a chilly 54 degrees.

The mercury is expected to drop even further tonight. Clear skies will allow the temperature to bottom out around 31 degrees, creating a genuine freeze for much of the area. Tuesday morning will likely feel the most intense, as wind chills are forecast to hit a biting 27 degrees before the afternoon high struggles to reach 59.
