LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A murder suspect shot a man during an argument the victim tried to de-escalate, Lakeland police said.
The victim’s widow told News Channel 8 confrontation was not in Steve Magee’s nature.

“If there was ever altercations, he was the one getting in the middle trying to break it up, trying to talk to people – ‘it’s not worth it. This isn’t worth it’ and would try to break it up,” Bridget Magee said. “He was non-confrontational at all costs.”
Bridget Magee said Steve Magee, 48, was a protector of their five children, aged 10 to 29, and their relationship, which began when the Magees were just teenagers.
“We would get through every situation that life threw at us and always came out stronger, always came out stronger,” Bridget Magee said. “We loved each other to death, to death. There’s not a thing that we wouldn’t do for each other.”…
