POLK COUNTY, Fla. – First responders are currently on the scene of a fatal multi-vehicle collision in northwest Polk County that has claimed two lives and forced a total closure of a major thoroughfare. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Polk County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene on Commonwealth Avenue North, also known as State Road 33, at approximately 8:37 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
The crash occurred near the intersection of L A Combee Drive, a stretch of highway situated just north of Polk City. Early reports from the scene indicate that at least two motorcycles were among the vehicles involved in the pileup.
