They say that winning once is a dream; winning twice is a statement. Well, for senior wrestler Raymond Shaw, a statement was definitely made!

This past weekend, Raymond cemented himself in GJHS and Polk County Athletic history by winning his SECOND consecutive wrestling State Championship! Raymond is the first wrestler in Polk County history to win back-to-back state titles in Class 3A. Raymond capped off his phenomenal high school wrestling career with a record of 184-17.

Along with Raymond, GJ had 7 state-qualifying wrestlers. Junior Andrew Taylor finished 6th in state, and senior Jackson Lietz had a 7th place finish.
