Pumps guzzle away paychecks as gas price rises to $4 a gallon

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The price of gas has reached nearly $4 per gallon across the Tampa Bay area, as conflict continues in Iran.

“Prices keep on going up,” said Bonnie Strung, a driver at the pumps on Wednesday. “Hopefully they’ll go down again soon.”The going rate for a gallon of gas across the area is around $3.95. That’s more than a dollar higher than prices at the beginning of the month – and it’s some of the most expensive gas across the state.

“That’s the most expensive daily average in four years,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA. “Since this conflict began the state average has increased one dollar and five cents. That adds about 16 dollars to the cost of filling up a 15-gallon tank.”…
