LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A home was completely destroyed due to a fire caused by a lithium-ion battery left charging in Lakeland Saturday afternoon, according to the Red Cross and the family living there.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. near Lake Parker, displacing a family and multiple children.

“It’s really devastating to look at. To know you go from everything to homeless… at the snap of a finger. It’s unimaginable,” said Butch Mansfield, the homeowner.
The Mansfield family lost a camper alongside multiple sheds and workshops on the outside of the home. Inside, the majority of the rooms were burned, and possessions were lost due to water damage. Three pets were also killed…
