Tampa Bay restaurants required to limit how much water they can serve amid extreme shortage

SARASOTA, Fla. (WSNN) β€” The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) Governing Board voted Tuesday to declare a Modified Phase III β€œExtreme” Water Shortage.

It’s due to ongoing drought conditions, and that means all residents, even those on private wells, will have to comply.

According to a district news release, watering hours have been reduced to 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. or 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. However, if your city or county has stricter watering hours, they will apply instead.

The reduced hours apply to properties under one acre, and residents may use only one of those windows. The new measure follows the one-day-per-week watering restriction already in place…
