2nd case of rabies reported in Polk County less than 2 weeks apart

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA)— A second case of rabies was reported in Polk County less than two weeks after the first case.

A man reported that he noticed one of his three dogs pawing at a bat in his home on March 25.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Brazilian free-tailed bat was collected by the PCSO Animal Control and was sent to the Bureau of Public Health Laboratories for testing…
