On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, teams of firefighters and volunteers canvassed neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms in over 40 homes. This “blitz” specifically targeted older, high-risk structures where modern fire safety equipment is often missing or non-functional.

  • Door-to-Door Outreach: Volunteers are checking existing detectors, replacing old batteries, and installing new units where needed.
  • Safety Education: Beyond the hardware, teams are walking residents through two-minute escape plans and identifying at least two ways out of every room.
