Expired Food, Dirty Equipment Found at Local Establishments

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County health inspectors cited several food establishments Friday for violations ranging from bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods and improper food storage to inoperable handwashing sinks and inadequate hot water.

At Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream & Great American Cookie in Exton, inspectors observed an employee preparing a milkshake and handling ice cream and whipped cream toppings with bare hands. The facility was also cited for dirty food-contact surfaces, expired and undated dairy products, blocked handwashing sinks, and the use of scented disinfectant wipes in food preparation areas.

Inspectors directed the business to implement a regular deep-cleaning schedule after noting accumulations of dirt and debris on floors, walls, shelves, equipment interiors and exteriors, and restroom surfaces…
