Lititz Borough mayor surprised no charges filed in beloved school dog’s death

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Police were ready to file charges in a case where a Lancaster County elementary school dog was left in a hot car this month, but the district attorney’s office decided otherwise.

Lititz Borough Mayor John George said in a statement Tuesday on Facebook that police were prepared to file charges in Callie’s death, but that was pending the final review by Adams’ office.

“I want to assure our residents that the Lititz Borough Police Department took this matter with the utmost seriousness,” the statement reads. “Officers responded to the report immediately and launched a thorough investigation. Based on their findings, the department was prepared to file charges, pending review and final approval of the District Attorney.”…
