Pa. school district reinstates controversial Native American logo: ‘Can’t cancel the past’

GLEN ROCK, Pa. (CITC) – A Pennsylvania school board voted Thursday to restore its previously retired Native American “Warrior Head” logo. The 7-2 vote by the Southern York County School District school board comes after the logo, which depicts a Native American in a feathery headpiece with a tomahawk and pipe, was retired by the district’s previous board in 2020. It was replaced with an arrowhead passing through a red “W” to show “a forward, upward direction symbolizing the district’s direction in academics, athletics and as a community,” graphic communications teacher Wade Bowers said.
