Fastnacht Day is Feb. 13: 8 places to buy the treats in York and Adams counties.

Fastnacht day is almost here.

Shrove Tuesday — also known as Fat Tuesday — falls on Feb. 13 this year. It’s tradition to eat the doughy delights before the beginning of Lent.

Saubel’s Market in southern York County has been making the treats for decades. The employees mix, roll, cut, proof, fry and top the treats. They will work round the clock as Shrove Tuesday approaches to meet the demand.

“It takes a lot of manpower to get it all done,” said Betti Saubel, co-owner of the business.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia, Lancaster County is celebrating its 100th year of making the fastnachts. It sold out its preorders within hours, according to its Facebook page .
