Loving messages can improve mental and physical health, local doctor says

(WHTM) – It’s Valentine’s Day and messages from our friends and our loved ones can make us “feel” good emotionally. But can they also help our medical health?

One Midstate doctor says yes. Doctor J. P. Shand of WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital says sharing loving messages can improve the mental and physical health of the person getting them and the person giving them!

Shand said, “Having a formed connection with other people, especially in a kind and compassionate way really allows for empathy and the experience of connectedness with other people. This is something that the human brain craves. It’s very important to our development and happiness.”
