Lancaster man allegedly kidnapped landlord, fired gun from vehicle window

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Lancaster man is facing charges that include kidnapping after police say he kidnapped his landlord at gunpoint and forced them to drive around the area.

Aga Thapaliya, 39, of Lancaster, allegedly fired shots out of the vehicle window and threatened to kill his landlord on Wednesday evening, Manor Township Police said in charging documents Thursday.

According to the criminal complaint, police were told that Thapaliya called the landlord to ask for a ride home from the store.

When they got back to Thapaliya’s home, police say Thapaliya told the man to wait because he had something for him and went to his garage. He returned and pointed a gun at the landlord, allegedly saying “Drive and do what I tell you,” and “I will kill you.” He also forced the landlord to virtually transfer $500 to him.

There were also six spent shell casings found inside the passenger side of the vehicle from the shots fired out the vehicle’s window, police said.
