Pennsylvania cancer survivor almost missed out on $5 million lottery win

A cancer survivor scratched-off a lucky $5 million lottery ticket in a Pennsylvania Speedway parking lot for her birthday.

The big win was made possible by a stalled trip to Florida.

Donna Osborne, of Lancaster County, said the birthday surprise was also a bittersweet win for her because she just finished radiation treatment for breast cancer, according to official press release.

“I was at the airport with my daughter. We were on our way to see family in Florida when the flight got delayed. Well, it was delayed so many times, I decided to go home. My daughter stayed and flew to Florida,” said Osborne to officials. “If I didn’t leave the airport, I would have never bought that ticket!”

Osborne said she scratched off the ticket at the Speedway parking lot and couldn’t believe her eyes.

She said she went back into the store and asked the clerk to re-check it for her.

Lottery officials presented 75-year-old Osborne with a commemorative check for winning a $5 million dollar prize in the Monopoly Own it All scratch off game on June 27.
