Dogs poisoned, nails scattered in owner’s driveway in Lancaster County; Police investigating

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Police are looking for answers after two dogs, one of which died, were poisoned and nails were put in the owner’s driveway in Lancaster County.

It was Wednesday, Sept. 25, when East Hempfield Township Police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Todd Lane for poisoned dogs and nails in a driveway, a news release states.

The two dogs, a Newfoundland and a Spaniel mix, were found eating a “frozen chunk” of something in a fenced-in backyard after their owner had let them out in the morning, police say. The dogs were then brought inside, and then became lethargic and started vomiting, so the owner rushed them to the veterinarian.

However, the male Newfoundland died, police said, and the other dog was able to recover. Vets do not know yet what the dogs had ingested, police said.

The nails were then found scattered in the driveway by the owner later that day after they got home. There was an incident weeks before this about nails being found the same person’s driveway, which was also reported to police, the release states.
