Lancaster County man charged after killing 11 turkeys, State Police say

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Lancaster County man allegedly killed 11 turkeys on Monday that were inside an electric fence pasture.

After being turned down for work, Jesse Bills, 28, of Gap, allegedly killed the turkeys and took two with him, State Police at Lancaster said in the charges filed.

According to the criminal complaint, Troopers were dispatched for a theft just before 7:30 p.m. at a residence located along the 5000 block of Friendship Lane in Salisbury Township.

After learning about the dead turkeys, Troopers say they were able to find Bills walking in a farm field nearby. He was then detained and questioned.

Bills said he was looking for work to pay off debts and stopped by, but was told to come back in the morning. According to the complaint, Bills says he was told by a family member to go back and grab as many turkeys as he can.
