Tankers use 46,000 gallons of water to fight Lancaster Co. woods fire

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Fire crews battled a woods fire in Providence Township, Lancaster County Friday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post from Quarryville Fire Company , at 1:28 pm Friday, fire crews were alerted to assist the Refton Fire Company with fighting a “wind-driven fire” on Scheller Road in Providence Township. An engine had to set up a water supply to fill tankers, and the fire company says it was the seventh fill site they have set up in less than two weeks.

Units say they fought the seven-acre fire for around four hours, and an engine filled tankers with 46,000 gallons of water from a pond on Sawmill Road.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
