Winds Chills as Low as Negative 25 Possible Across the Northeast & New England
12/21/24 10:49am EST
Good morning everyone. Very cold air is moving in fairly quickly behind our departing storm system, with temperatures sinking into the teens and 20’s throughout the day across much of the Northeast and New England.
We’re even in the 20’s along the coast in the New York City & Long Island region, which shows the extent of how far that core of cold air has reached. This will be the theme over the next 2 days, including building winds today as the day goes one. Any leftover light snow across parts of the region will slowly come to an end, then the wind kicks up as we are expecting gusts in the 30-35mph range.
This wind will combine with the very cold air, to give us some extremely low wind chill values tonight into the morning hours of tomorrow across higher elevation parts of New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Wind chill values as low as negative 25 are possible when combined with single digit and near zero temperatures.
