A person is dead after a body was discovered in a Harford County house fire on Christmas morning, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
The Harford County Department of Emergency Services received a 911 call just before 7 a.m. Wednesday reporting a fire in the 200 block of Doncaster Road. First responders found a single-family home with significant fire and smoke visible.
The fire was brought under control by 7:20 a.m., with 36 personnel on scene, according to the Harford County Department of Emergency Services.
Firefighters later found the body of a victim in the residence. Another occupant was evaluated by EMS but did not require transport. Disaster Assistance is on-site to support approximately 4-5 displaced occupants.
“Our thoughts are with the affected family and community during this difficult time,” Harford County Department of Emergency Services posted on social media .
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is handling the death investigation, and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
