DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Sonya McKnight, a former Dauphin County judge, is set to have her trial start next week after shooting her ex-boyfriend in the face while he was sleeping.
The District Court Administrator of the Twelfth Judicial District of Pennsylvania, Stephen Libhart, explained that jury costs for the trial could cause Dauphin County taxpayers almost $20,000.
12 jurors and four alternates are being brought from Delaware County to the Harrisburg area for an estimated five-day trial. The costs are as follows:
- Lodging: $8,686
- Food: $4,000 ($50 per diem, per juror)
- Transportation for arrival: $2,322 (Bus taxi from Delco to Harrisburg)
- Transportation leaving: $2,322 (Bus taxi from Harrisburg to Delco)
- Pay: $1,232 (Estimated)
