A major 16-inch water main break at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and New Holland Road in Reading disrupted water service for several thousand customers Monday and led to an early dismissal at Millmont Elementary School. Watch the livestream here.
The break, reported earlier in the day, took several hours to fully shut down due to its size and location. The affected area includes the 700 block of Lancaster Avenue, the City of Reading’s 18th Ward, and portions of Kenhorst Borough.
Crews with the Reading Area Water Authority (RAWA) have now begun repairs. Significant traffic disruptions are expected in the area throughout the day, and motorists are urged to avoid the intersection if possible…
