Man allegedly stole $555,892 in gold bars from local resident

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A New York man is being accused of stealing $555,892 worth of gold bars from a Lancaster County resident.

According to the Ephrata Police Department, an elderly resident reported to police the theft of $555,892 worth of gold bars in April 2025. An investigation revealed that in March, individuals were able to gain access to the victim’s computer and convince them to turn their lifetime investment accounts into gold.
