PENNSYLVANIA — ZHONG REN, 44, of Brooklyn, was arrested Thursday in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, for allegedly stealing more than $500,000 in gold bars in a Federal Reserve impersonation scheme, according to WGAL News 8. The Federal Trade Commission warned, “Being told to ‘move your money to protect it’ is always a scam,” as Ren is held pending investigation into an international ring.
On June 23, Brooklynite Yongxian Huang, 24, pleaded guilty in Maryland to participating in a similar gambit involving over $350,000 in gold bars, the Brooklyn Eagle reported.
