A small Piper PA-46 single-engine aircraft departing Lancaster Airport crashed into a field in Warwick Township early Sunday morning, killing the sole occupant. According to a press release from the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department, officers were dispatched at 7:59 a.m. on July 20, 2025, to the 500 block of Stauffer Road after reports of a downed plane.
Witnesses in nearby fields described a sudden engine sputter followed by a thud. “I was feeding my cattle when I heard a loud pop and saw the plane drop almost straight down,” said local farmer David Jenkins, who rushed to the scene moments after the crash.
