(WHTM) — When you think of wine, you may think of Italy, France or California, but over two million gallons of wine are produced right here in Pennsylvania.
State lawmakers visited Nissely Vineyards in Lancaster County to learn more about the industry. Other local wine producers joined them on a tour of the facility, followed by a roundtable discussing some of the challenges Pennsylvania wineries are facing.
“Throughout today’s tour, we got to see firsthand just how labor-intensive it is and how things like the climate and weather events can really substantially change a business and their ability to be able to generate profit during the season,” said Rep. Manny Guzman (D-Berks County), Central Pennsylvania’s House Delegation Chair. “It’s up to us as legislators and members of the legislature to figure out how we can support these small businesses.”…
