LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The Columbia Presbyterian Church showed Wednesday how it’s a pillar to the community after a power outage frustrated many locals.
“Columbia Presbyterian has been active in community outreach since about 2006,” said Pastor David Powers. “We have a homeless ministry here or food ministry here a clothing ministry here so things like this we’re used to doing this is what this is our wheel house.”
When Powers found out that nearly a hundred residents in Columbia would be without power on a sizzling hot day, he sprung to action. The church is normally open on weekdays, but on the day of the outages, he was able to quickly turn the open church into a cooling center…
