Police dept. disbandment could leave some Lancaster schools without a resource officer

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The New Holland Police Department is ceasing operations, which could leave Eastern Lancaster County School districts without a School Resource Officer (SRO) when the department disbands at the end of 2025.

In July, New Holland Borough Council and West Earl Township voted in favor of West Earl Township Police serving the whole area, consolidating the New Holland Police Department and West Earl Township Police Department into one.

The New Holland Police Department has been serving the community since the 1920s and has been providing the Eastern Lancaster County School District with SROs for the last seven years…
