Lancaster County judge denies terminally ill convicted murder’s request for compassionate release

LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster County judge on Thursday denied a request for compassionate release from a man serving life in prison for shooting an Ephrata woman to death in 2015, the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Randall Shreiner, 68, is serving a life sentence at SCI-Coal Township for the murder of his former lover, 44-year-old Monica Miller, in February 2015, after she ended their relationship.

He confessed to the crime four months later, and was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and a firearms charge…
