Lancaster County residents warned of rise in scam calls impersonating sheriff’s deputies

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, residents reported an increase in scam calls from people impersonating sheriff’s deputies.

The Sheriff’s Office said the scammers may use real deputy names or even “clone” their office phone number to target victims for money.

Residents should know that the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will never call to demand payment of fines or fees or ask you to purchase gift cards for court costs, bail or jury duty…
