RISING SUN – A Pennsylvania man was killed Monday when the sport utility vehicle he was driving crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer on a highway near Rising Sun, according to the Maryland State Police.
Investigators identified the victim as Robert Pierce, 51, of Oxford, Pa. Cecil County Department of Emergency Services paramedics pronounced Pierce dead at the scene on U.S. 1, north of Rising Sun, police reported.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Pierce was operating a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer in the southbound lane of U.S. 1, near Little New York Road, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday when he lost control of his vehicle “for reasons unknown,” and it crossed into the opposing lane, according to police…
