Man Faces Charges for Assaulting Minor in Lancaster County

In Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 71-year-old Joseph Gerald Meyer faces serious charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor over a decade ago. According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Meyer repeatedly assaulted the victim from February 2008 to April 2010, beginning when she was 15 years old. The assaults reportedly took place at various locations, including Meyer’s former residence in Manheim Township.

The victim initially reported to authorities that Meyer kissed her but did not reveal the full extent of the abuse due to Meyer’s threats. He allegedly warned her that he would kill her horses or place her in foster care if she disclosed the assaults. The victim eventually reported the abuse to the Pennsylvania State Police in June 2025.

Meyer waived his preliminary hearing on September 26 and now faces 24 felony and misdemeanor charges, including four counts of rape and five counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. He is being held in Lancaster County Prison without bail, awaiting his formal arraignment on October 24…
