Man admitted to neglecting care-dependent Lancaster County woman until death: court docs

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Conestoga man is facing involuntary manslaughter and neglect related charged after a woman he was allegedly caring for passed away in September 2024.

According to an affidavit, on September 6, 2024, the victim was taken to a hospital in Lancaster after her care giver, Ronald Bender, 60, reported that she had become unresponsive after a day of gradually declining communication.

After arriving at the hospital, nurses determined the victim was reportedly suffering from acute conditions, including hypoxemic respiratory failure, sepsis with organ dysfunction, sacral wound, lactic acidosis, hyponatremia, and hypoalbuminemia, along with a history of other medical conditions that could be easily maintained, given the proper care…
