Local food banks bracing for issues amid no state budget

LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Pennsylvania food banks are already busy and now are bracing for issues amid the state budget impasse.

“We need we need the community to come out and help, you know, help us stock the shelves and help us source some product to be able to feed these families in need,” said David Fitzkee, executive director of The Caring Cupboard.

The Caring Cupboard food pantry, located at 131 N. Railroad St. in Palmyra, is bracing for impact, as funding for SNAP benefits is set to expire Nov. 1 due to the federal government shutdown, leaving many to find a quick fix to a serious problem.
