Lancaster teen facing felony gun charges after firing shots into a sitting car: DA

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Lancaster city teen is facing felony charges after firing shots into a sitting vehicle, according to Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

Edwin Ortiz, 16, has been charged with the following after a shooting on July 5:

  • Aggravated assault (2 counts)
  • Possession of a firearm by minor
  • Unlicensed possession of a firearm
  • Firing into an occupied structure
  • Recklessly endangering another (2 counts)

Officials say that Ortiz fired four shots into a parked vehicle on the 500 block of East Strawberry Street. One victim was bruised by a bullet fragment, but no one inside was seriously injured.

Investigators learned that Ortiz had instructed a driver to take him to the intersection of East Strawberry and Wooward streets before firing at the victims. Officials say Ortiz then concealed the gun and left the scene…
