Teacher on leave after allegedly restraining autistic child in Lancaster County classroom

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Lancaster County teacher is on leave after being accused of dragging an autistic child by the wrist earlier this year, with the school confirming an investigation is underway.

Meg Keller, the legal consultant for the child, posted on Facebook that on Feb. 27, a 5-year-old non-verbal autistic child was “forcibly restrained” in a Lancaster IU13 classroom for one hour and 17 minutes.

“He was nonverbal, defenseless, and in distress, yet no one called for help, no medical assessment was made, and the child’s mother wasn’t told until two months later,” Keller wrote…
