The West Reading Police Department is advising the public to stay away from the area between Candlewood Suites and the rear parking lot of 200 Penn Avenue following a retaining wall collapse reported Thursday afternoon.
Officials said the collapse has left the site unstable and potentially hazardous. Barricades and signage have been placed to restrict access, and police are asking residents and visitors to follow directions from emergency personnel and borough staff.
The Borough of West Reading said it is working with engineers and property representatives to assess the damage and secure the area.
