Police Uncover Alleged Check-Cashing Scheme Involving Coercion and Abuse

SINKING SPRING, PA — A 41-year-old man has been arrested following a Spring Township Police investigation into what authorities describe as a complex fraudulent check-cashing operation involving coercion and possible human exploitation.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the MidPenn Bank on Shillington Road on September 24 after a woman, previously identified in connection with an earlier fraudulent check-cashing scheme in Allentown, allegedly attempted to cash a check for $2,500.00.

When officers arrived, they discovered the woman wearing a Bluetooth earpiece connected to her cell phone. Investigators say she was actively communicating with individuals believed to be orchestrating the scheme, who were reportedly instructing her on what to say to both bank employees and responding officers…
