This past HHM has been one of extraordinary celebrations and community pride for Palo Magazine and the City of Reading. Not only did we commemorate our own 15th Palo Magazine anniversary with our own event, El Boricuazo, where Palo gifted a Puerto Rican Mural to the Puerto Rican Civic Society on South 4th Street, but we also celebrated with others, such as grand openings, galas, among many other nonprofit events.
During this HHM, the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts celebrated its 20th anniversary and the grand opening of Thorn Alley Stage. Alex Civil celebrated the vibrant Cultural Festival in City Park. The City of Reading had its First Friday downtown festivities in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Wanda Holdren Dance Academy celebrated HHM at the DoubleTree Reading. There were cultural showcases such as Barrio Lights and their West Side Story-themed event, and several impactful cancer awareness events; the momentum was nonstop. There was the Love Notes performance at the RACC Miller Center and Latin tasting events and galas hosted by nonprofits, proving once again that Reading was the place to be this Hispanic Heritage Month.
Reading also had major musical icons; Víctor Manuelle, La India, and Tito Nieves graced the stages of the Santander Arena and Santander Performing Arts Center, attracting audiences from across the region.
