Hand, foot and mouth disease on the rise; What to know

(WHTM) — A Lancaster County pediatrician said there’s an uptick of hand, foot and mouth disease.

That’s not common for this time of year. Cases usually flare up in the summer and when school starts. It affects children under 5 for about 7 to 10 days and is highly contagious. There is no treatment, just supportive care like taking Tylenol or Motrin.
