A Lancaster County man, Thomas J. Hackman, 65, pleaded guilty on October 27 to multiple charges, including aggravated assault and assaulting law enforcement officers. The charges stem from an incident on March 24, when Hackman attacked three Northwest Regional Police officers outside his home in Mount Joy Township, Pennsylvania.
According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Hackman punched, scratched, and spat on the officers, leaving them with cuts, abrasions, and swelling. The officers were responding to an unrelated call when the assault occurred. Even after being arrested, Hackman continued to threaten and spit at the officers, and attempted to kick out the rear windows of a patrol car.
While being processed at Lancaster County Prison, Hackman reportedly told intake staff that he would have further harmed one of the officers if he had the chance. Assistant District Attorney Anthony Gilbert prosecuted the case, and Northwest Regional Police Officer Kristopher Hart filed the charges…
