Stauffer’s Stars holiday cookies have no chocolate this year, and the internet isn’t happy

Stauffer’s, known for its seasonal star-shaped, chocolate-coated graham cracker cookies, released a statement, addressing frustration over the absence of milk and dark chocolate Stars this year.

Due to rising cocoa costs, which would have pushed prices to about $8 per box, the brand said it introduced White and Dark Fudge Stars this year instead to keep products affordable and accessible.

“Our decision to change Stars this year was not made lightly,” the brand said in a statement. “We worked hard to design a Stars lineup that delivers festive cheer and satisfying crunch, while maintaining both affordability and accessibility.”

The White and Dark Fudge Stars are made with plant-based colors, and without high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or peanuts. They also contain the same non-GMO coating used in its other products…
