Lancaster County Commissioners discuss property tax hike

LANCASTER, Pa. — People living in Lancaster County could potentially see their property taxes increase for the first time since 2013.

The Lancaster County Commissioners are considering a plan to increase the local government’s millage rate from 2.911 to 3.2 starting in 2026. The increase was first discussed during a commissioner’s meeting on November 12.

“We do not recommend these measures lightly,” said Paul Landers, the county’s director of budget services. “But due to the challenges that we and many other counties face, we believe this is the best option moving forward.”…
