Lancaster’s Dr. Vincent Miles Recognized by NAACP for Decades of Service to Local Higher Education

Dr. Vincent E. Miles, Professor of Social Sciences at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, received the Dr. Rita Smith-Wade-El Higher Education Award from the NAACP Lancaster Branch. The award was given at the organization’s Annual Gala. It recognizes Dr. Miles for more than 25 years of service, leadership, and advocacy in higher education and the Lancaster community.

Dr. Miles has worked at Thaddeus Stevens College for over two decades. He has supported accessible education and mentorship for students. Many graduates credit him for guidance during their studies.

Dr. Miles was the first person of color inducted into a national academic honor society and the first faculty member of color at the College. He founded the Dream BIG Mentoring Academy and established the Tech Phi Tech Fraternity, which will mark its 40th anniversary at the end of this academic year. The College library includes the “Dr. Vincent E. Miles African American Collection” on a floor named after him…
