Lancaster man previously sentenced to death now sentenced up to 60 years in prison for murdering hip-hop artist

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — A Lancaster man who was previously sent to death row was re-sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering a hip-hop artist at a concert in 2010.

According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Judge Jeffrey Conrad sentenced 36-year-old Jakeem Lydell Towles to 30 to 60 years in state prison for shooting and killing 20-year-old rapper Cornell Anton “Young E-Z” Stewart outside a Columbia concert venue on May 7, 2010.

The DA’s Office says the then-20-year-old Towles was ejected from the venue after causing a fight, then later opened fire on a group of people outside the renovated fire hall in the first block of North Fourth Street. Stewart was fatally shot in the head during the chaos…
