SHREWSBURY, Pa. — A pilot program designed to give Girl Scouts real-world business experience is now drawing questions from families and business owners over how cookie sale proceeds were ultimately distributed.
The Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) launched a “Shark Tank–style” cookie pitch program this summer, allowing top sellers, girls who sold more than 500 boxes, to present high-dollar cookie orders directly to local businesses. The goal, according to the council, was to help scouts earn additional money for troop goals while building confidence, public speaking skills, and entrepreneurial experience.
