Demolition crew dismantles vacant Reading building after partial collapse

READING, Pa. – The partial collapse of a house in downtown Reading resulted in a demolition crew being called to the scene to help bring the building down safely.

Reading Fire Marshal Jeremy Searfoss says the call came in shortly after 1 a.m. today for the partial collapse of a residential building in the 100 block of Poplar Street.

Searfoss says the front wall of the home was deemed unsafe and a demolition company was brought in to start the process of demolishing the structure to ensure the safety of nearby residents.

An adjoining home was evacuated for safety reasons and four people were displaced, Searfoss says…
