Escaped pig causes scene along Route 30 and New Holland Ave. in Lancaster

LANCASTER, Pa. — Traffic along Route 30 and New Holland Avenue in Lancaster County was slowed when a pig staged a daring escape from a farm truck carrying it through the area Thursday afternoon, authorities and eyewitnesses reported.

The pig escaped shortly after 12 p.m. when truck’s back doors opened, allowing it to run free.

But instead of fleeing, the pig just…hung around. It was seen eating grazing in a grassy area near the roadway, occasionally pausing to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather by lying down and basking in the sun…
